Safety + Fun = NAOSH Event

I was recently invited to watch one of the NAOSH week activities at ColdLogic, one of SafetyDriven – TSCBC’s COR certified large employers. The event was a relay event pitting four teams of five to some challenges.

ColdLogic NAOSH 1The relay went as follows: First person dons PPE, second person carries out the company warm-up stretching routine,  third person does a key-off safety check of a stand-up warehouse forklift, fourth person does a key-on safety check of the forklift, and the fifth person operates the forklift to pick-up, move, and place a stack of pallets on a “target” pallet.  Each section was carefully monitored for completeness and, of course, safety . The team with the best time, while completing all steps in the company sanctioned and safe manner, would be the winner.

It was well conceived, well organized, safe, and fun.  In other words, a great event. The safety culture at ColdLogic is well established, and a fun and inclusive safety function reinforces employee buy-in just that much more. If your company hasn’t done so already, consider planning and hosting your own NAOSH week activities.

The four teams. Everyone was a winner. Two employees in front demonstrating and slightly embellishing one of the stretches from the company routine.
